Note #08: Shortcuts to Sensuality
Holiday edition.
Welcome to Notes on Sensuality, an exploration into everyday sensuality led by Maxine Kelly of Underlena.
Some suggestions for bringing some sensuality into the holiday season — small moments to consider as you enter the Christmas period, at whichever pace you find yourself.
Finding the best spot to drink your coffee in before everyone wakes up. What does that mean to you? Does that mean the morning sun, full frontal, into your eyes? Or cozied up on the couch before the warmth of the day begins? Or, is it in communion with the garden, with a lap around it?
Taking an extra 10 minutes in the morning, in bed, with yourself and/or your loved one, musing on your dreams or wishes for the day. An intimate moment before launching into whatever is on your holiday agenda.
Putting on your favourite lounging attire - naturally I’d recommend the Kye Recline Pant for this (I’ll be wearing my grey ones), or, for something a little slinkier, a Two Squares Slip.
If you are blessed with a tomato plant, enjoying the scent left on your hands after you’ve picked the fruit for lunch.
Finding the cool spot in the bed in the middle of the night.
The scent of the sun on your skin after a day in and out of the sea.
Floating on top of a body of water, in the sun
Taking an extra five minutes to moisturise at the end of the day, with something like this.
Seeking out the scents associated with the holidays (do you sense a theme here?) lilies, pine, a warm kitchen, a hot barbecue?
Finding sensuality in the rituals that we associate with this time of year, whatever that might be for you. For me, it could be lighting candles, dipping strawberries in chocolate, sitting with a bowl of cherries and a book, the crisp pop of champagne.
I’d love to know what you might be bringing into the season with you that helps you connect a little more to your own sensuality. It needn’t be big to be impactful.
Yours in sensuality,
Maxine x
